Three symptoms, one cause. The indicator light is driven by the enclosure's bridge board, so a dark LED usually means that board has failed or is receiving nothing. With no power passing through it, the drive's motor never turns, which accounts for the silence. And a drive that never spins never becomes ready, which accounts for the lack of recognition. That is a considerably better place to be than clicking.
